When I finished writing Steve Young’s biography and before spending two years with the Patriots organization while writing The Dynasty, I teamed up with my longtime friend Armen Keteyian to write Tiger Woods’s biography. It was a three-year odyssey. Then, one week before our book came out in March 2018, esteemed New York Times book critic Dwight Garner compared it to a Christopher Nolan movie, saying, “I found it exhilarating, depressing, tawdry, and moving in almost equal measure. It’s a big American story.”

After a review like that there is only one thing to do – buckle up. The book instantly took flight. The months that followed were a whirlwind. One of the people we met on the journey was Academy-Award winning filmmaker Alex Gibney, whom Esquire has dubbed “the most important documentarian of our time.”

Working with Gibney these past two years to produce a documentary film inspired by the book has been a great professional experience. More importantly, I now count Alex as a friend and a colleague. He brought in two visionary directors, Matthew Hamachek and Matthew Heineman, to direct the film. They did a phenomenal job.

The two-part Tiger Woods documentary debuts on HBO and HBO Max on Sunday, January 10th at 9pm. Part 2 will air on Sunday, January 17th at 9pm. It was an honor to work with such a classy and talented group of artists. I hope you’ll tune in.
